Identification of need: nature of interactivity, eg online transactions, static versus dynamic
Most Modern websites have some degree of interactivity.
There are two basic types of websites.
Static
A Static website is one with little interactivity. These sites can have forms. Changes to sites like this have to be hard coded by rewiting a webpage and uploading it every time a change is required.
Dynamic
A dynamic website can have a variety of interactivity from a form that sends some response back to the user to a fully database controlled website. A content management system often runs a website like this. An example of such a system is Joomla. www.notes4music.co.uk is a Joomla site

Web designers must always have two sets of needs in mind when creating a website:
The needs of the client - who is paying for the website
The needs of the user - who will be using the website.

Image is conveyed through the apprpriate layout, the choice of colours, the use of the right type of pictures, and through the content of the website.
Level of security Whos is going to be able to access the website? Are you going to allow anyone to access the site, or are you going to get people to logon to your website and then give then personalised pages.
