To remain effective, a web site needs to be constantly updated and maintained for a number of reasons:
Technology changes fast and a site can begin to look and act old very quickly.
Changes in business, for example new products or prices.
Components of a web site such as hyperlinks and graphics can malfunction. Dead links
The rules by which search engines list sites change constantly. Without updating and taking account of these new rules, a web site can easily become 'lost' in search engine listings.
Fresh information ensures people have a reason to return to your site.
Regular Checks should include
Adding new page
changing contents
Adding/removing products in the shopping cart
Posting news releases
Adding/deleting email addresses
24/7 monitoring to make sure your website up at least 99.7% of the time.
How do you write a site with maintenance in mind. Documentation
Why document? You may well be able to do something today that you won't remember how to do
in a month or a years time.
What add-on technologies could be used on this site?

What other technologies are there? Which ones are useful to the NSOS?
