What is a GIS?
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system and database that captures, stores, manages,integrates, maps, analyzes and displays geographic data. A GIS is comprised of the following elements:
- A System that is used to analyze features
- The software, hardware, data, and staff
- The data stored in x, y, and z space to establish spatial relationships between the data
- A Transactional system
This is called spatial data.
